By making a shopping list and purchasing your needed components yourself, you have the ability to save enormous amounts of money on this hobby. It takes a lot more effort and dedication, but in the end is rewarding. Besides, there aren't too many consumer stores to buy this type of stuff anyway!! (I may or may not have some supplies currently on a freighter in the Pacific Ocean!)
