<![CDATA[Show is running]]>Sat, 02 Dec 2023 14:15:36 GMThttp://havenshireholidays.com/blog/show-is-running8700620The light show is up and running, still getting the kinks out. Ive got more lights to put out on both sides. We moved the pixel tree to the front yard too which I think was a good move. Then I can work on some new songs :)

<![CDATA[Working on 2023]]>Tue, 07 Nov 2023 16:10:17 GMThttp://havenshireholidays.com/blog/working-on-2023Setup has begun at a slower pace than usual. Making repairs & adjustments on the fly, which probably could have been done earlier. (Every year: "I'm going to fix this over the summer so I'm not rushed next season!") I am thinking of modifying the layout to whereas only the main yard will be animated / synchronized. The yard areas encroaching the neighbor's yards will be more of a traditional lighting display, including traditional Christmas lights, blow molds and inflatables. This will allow me to enhance the quality of the programming and also showcase some of the older elements that I enjoy. More details to come.

<![CDATA[Happy Holidays]]>Sun, 18 Dec 2022 16:40:10 GMThttp://havenshireholidays.com/blog/happy-holidays2892418The lights started the day after Thanksgiving as usual. All are up with the exception of the mega tree. We made mention in the City of Rochester newspaper (page 30) as a popular light display attraction. We are again participating in the Bivona Holiday Lights Tour fundraiser and have the sign proudly displayed. We are always thinking of things we can change or do differently, nothing concrete for next year yet. I have been slowly acquiring some newer AC light controllers that will need to be swapped out to keep up with the software technology, spotted some good deals on eBay. If anyone is interested in learning more about what it takes to put on a show, I'd be happy to show them. There is even a Facebook group for fellow NY users to collaborate and learn from each other! Hoping for another NY Mega-Mini next year, and maybe even make the Christmas Expo...we'll see!!]]><![CDATA[Rough Start]]>Wed, 16 Nov 2022 17:28:08 GMThttp://havenshireholidays.com/blog/rough-start5771970I am working hard to get the show going this year, however I am falling way behind and weather isn't cooperating. I will keep at it to try to get a show going on time. As of now, no new additions or new songs.

<![CDATA[Summer Updates]]>Sun, 10 Jul 2022 12:46:28 GMThttp://havenshireholidays.com/blog/summer-updatesAttended the first ever NY mini conference!! Thank you Bobby Galeza for putting together the event in mid June on Grand Island. It was nice to meet some fellow enthusiasts in person and learn a thing or two. My order from Creative Displays came in but I haven't had the time to check it out yet. I've also picked up a couple controllers and communication adapters off eBay that were selling for decent price. I better start getting organized for the upcoming season, it will be here before you know it!

<![CDATA[Preparing for 2022]]>Sun, 13 Mar 2022 13:45:43 GMThttp://havenshireholidays.com/blog/preparing-for-2022Winter weather has greatly hindered taking down and putting everything away. It wasn't until late February that all was cleared from the lawns, and all the house lights are still up to this day. In other news, I placed a pre-sale order with Creative Displays for some string lights to replenish and repair a few things. I also found some good deals with C9 bulbs and socket strings from Lowe's that I will have to decide what to do with lat a later time.

<![CDATA[What a rush!]]>Sun, 26 Dec 2021 17:32:27 GMThttp://havenshireholidays.com/blog/what-a-rushThis year we started setting up later than ever because we were out of town (We love Disney!!). Add on a busy schedule and non ideal weather, and boy did we struggle to get it all up. We didn't even get the mega tree up this year. We didn't update any music, and we didn't add much. Only a front door wreath and, well, very pleased with the second one. A full traditional nativity scene! The other thing that happened this year was 3 significant wind events in the month of December. We've gotten pretty good about securing things but these events were big enough that even we re-enforced some stuff or brought them in. Merry Christmas everyone!!

<![CDATA[Packed up for another year]]>Sat, 09 Jan 2021 14:19:19 GMThttp://havenshireholidays.com/blog/packed-up-for-another-yearIt took 2 days to take down the show: A small crew each day, around 20 man hours total. There will be more stages of final sorting, sealing up bins once things have dried out, pulling what needs to be repaired/updated, etc. I will start to edit the pictures and video taken of this year's show soon as well.
